What You Need To Know About Chimney Inspections
Chimney Care Plus knows that your fireplace is the focal point of your home and the gathering spot for family and friends on those winter days! Keeping your chimney in tip-top shape is critical to those special moments! We are going to discuss what you need to know about the three types of inspections in this blog post and how to keep your chimney working properly.

Types of Inspections
There are three types of chimney inspections — Level one, Level two, and Level three. The level of inspection required depends on the condition of the chimney and the type of use.
- Level one is the most basic inspection, which is recommended annually for chimneys that are regularly used. In a Level one inspection, the technician examines the readily accessible parts of the chimney, such as the exterior, interior, and accessible portions of the appliance and chimney connection.
- Level two inspections are more in-depth and are recommended if there has been a change to the chimney system, such as a change in the fuel type or after a chimney fire. In a Level two inspection, the technician will use video scanning equipment to inspect the chimney flue and look for any damage, obstructions, or other issues that could affect the safe operation of the chimney.
- Level three inspections are the most comprehensive inspection and are recommended when a Level one or Level two inspection reveals a problem that requires further investigation. In a Level 3 inspection, the technician will remove parts of the chimney or building structure to gain access to the affected area.

Why Are Inspections Important?
Regular chimney inspections are essential to ensure that the chimney is functioning safely and efficiently. Chimney problems can lead to fires, carbon monoxide poisoning, and other serious issues.
